From Reaction to Attraction Book

Inertia
(06.03.2008)

One of the things which can keep people from progressing is sheer inertia- the state of something which is in motion to continue moving in the very direction it is moving into, unless another force intervenes. It's precisely like that with our energy. Energy behaves in a vortex-like manner, drawing towards it more and more of the same, while getting increasingly more 'dense', and thus stronger in its attracting power. The more we have a certain energy, the easier it is to keep on having the same energy. Only when a force unlike that energy intervenes, does the direction change. In regards to manifestation, the subconscious needs to be mentioned to present the bigger picture, as this is where most of the inertia comes from.

The subconscious is the source of our default energetic alignment, which expresses itself in our attitudes to life. And so long as that default energy remains in the same state, our life either doesn't progress, or only does so in a manner which requires a lot of effort. Our conscious awareness can override our default behaviour via consistent effort, but this only lasts for as long as we apply our conscious efforts to doing so. The exception is when we reprogram the subconscious conditioning towards a new default. Once that is accomplished, the effect of inertia is helping us, because it then means that we progress towards whatever we want by default.

This is all about being, rather than wanting. When we're living from a certain state of being by default, then we draw towards us whichever world mirrors it. It's like with a ball floating on the water of a swimming pool. By default, the ball is on the water, and so that's where it always returns to if it is moved. But if you altered its mass, then it may stay at the bottom of the pool by default. Altering the ball's mass in the analogy is similar to rearranging our default subconscious patterns regarding whatever we truly want in our lives. Once that is accomplished, we naturally gravitate towards the achievement of whatever we want in our lives.

The life which we are consciously aware of is like riding on a train. We can have dinner, get to know people, read a book, look at the scenery, or do a myriad of things on the ride. But for as long as we are on that train, there are clearly set parameters, and a definitive destination. In order to change where we're going, we need to get off at the next stop and take another train. The train and it's journey are symbolic of the subconscious program via which we operate, while getting off of the train is akin to using our conscious awareness to change the direction of our lives. And if we wan to progress in life, then we would probably do well to change some of our habitual attitudes, because what is that old saying again? “If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got”.
