Manifestation Problems
(04.03.2008)

What if you're not manifesting effectively? In which way could this situation be remedied? Well, to do so would be helped by first of all understanding the potential causes. There are two major ones which I'm aware of. They are subconscious limiting beliefs and a too intellectual approach.

The first is founded in the notion of how we live in a field of unlimited potential. We can have whatever we want, so long as we genuinely consider it possible at a subconscious level. If we think that something can't be done subconsciously, then we attract evidence in line with that. But self-limiting beliefs come in different flavours. They aren't always about considering things as not possible, and can also include all kinds of subjective observations which, through repetition seem objective to us.

Have you ever heard the one about how you're supposed to be selfless in your attitude? I applaud some of the general thinking which is often behind that, but let's look at this from another level. Our world is us (as I've written about in my essay entitled your world is you ), and this means that everything in our lives is a mirror of us in some way. Not always in terms of literal attitude, but there has to be a mirror there, or else it wouldn't be in our experience. There are people who suggest that your character is indicated by your friends, and there is often a lot of truth in that. What does this mean in terms of serving others? It means that when your state of being is one of not appreciating yourself, then that gets mirrored in the people in your life. I doubt that this is really the most effective way of helping people.

There are other limiting beliefs such as money being somehow 'evil'. Money just is, like everything else. It's a means of exchange. We can use it for perceived 'good' or 'bad'. The same money which can make people become trapped in materialism can see them be set free to live the life of their dreams.

And that's another limiting belief; that materialistic possessions are 'unspiritual'. What about books for example? Like books on spirituality. Is buying books on spirituality 'unspiritual'? As always, it's not the thing itself but what we make of it.

We can have many of these limiting beliefs (and I do mean many), but fortunately they can often be transcended just by becoming aware of them. Whenever we want to manifest something, it makes sense to closely look into our feelings regarding a certain area of life. Do we think it's easy? Worth the effort? Good? And why do we think so? If you're not feeling 'magnetic' to what you want, then there's very likely a limiting belief there.

The second major 'problem' area is that of approaching manifesting in too intellectual manner. I have no doubt about how our thoughts are brilliantly powerful, but I would suggest that manifesting is way more about feeling than thinking. Thoughts which are charged with strong feeling overwrite our present sense of reality quicker than just about anything else, and so help us to attain whatever we are feeling so strongly about. These are some of the major 'blockages' regarding the usage of the law of attraction. I have also written a separate article about subconscious limiting beliefs here .)
