Uneducating yourself to freedom   (11.11.2007)
This is the first entry of my newly started Law of Attraction blog. I have got a million and one things to say about the Law of Attraction and related metaphysical subjects, and so a blog seems kind of appropriate. Not least because I've somehow been in a really writing-intensive mood lately.
So what's an ideal topic to start a Law of Attraction blog with? When looked at from a certain angle, usage of the Law of Attraction is all about achieving what you set out to achieve. With this in mind, it would make sense to figure out what exactly it is that we want. It sounds like a really simple thing, but it can actually be quite tricky to figure out what you really, really want.
The reason for this is that society appears to be obsessed with conditioning people to forget their true nature and go for things which they neither want, nor even need. In those early years, we are acquainted with the view that we either succeed in the education system, or are going to be a 'failure' in life.
What does succeeding in the education system mean? It means to show that you have retained what you were told about in lessons. You are given a specific view of the world, and then you have the choice of either repeating that back on an exam paper, or to not pass. According to the social conditioning, you are called a 'failure' when you don't get an elaborate education. So you're a failure when you don't repeat back what you've been told about by someone who stands at the front of the classroom? What if you had the bold idea to actually think for yourself and question what you're being told? You're a failure for possessing the ability of independent thought and discernment?
Now, it may appear as though society has been set up in a way which requires for people to go all the way through the education system to be successful. Because of this, even people who have their doubts about the effectiveness of the education system will often just go along with it anyway. I'm not saying that there is no point in having an education system. There is use in providing educational facilities for those who want to train towards working in a specific profession. What I am rather less fond of are several other areas.
First and foremost, people are taught about things which they don't need. If you know exactly that your life's work is to be a painter, then why for goodness sake do you need to sit in chemistry classes? Today's education system treats people as though they are a grey mass, rather than to respect their unique talents and abilities. Only after students have already spent years of their life in the education system, do they get to choose what to study at college and university. The early years are by far the most important ones when it comes to character development, and by the time that choice is available, people are overwhelmingly already conditioned with the official version of 'reality'.
The education system tells people about a certain view of life, and tells them they either agree and are a good student, or they won't amount to much in life. Now, this in itself is not exactly an enlightened way to educate children, but what makes it really undesirable is how the view of life which the education system pounds out day after day is fundamentally flawed. You are overwhelmingly told about either believing in classical religion or materialistic science. Now, if people want to believe in that, then I wish them all the best- it's their decision, not mine. But we are not presented with alternatives. We are given a picture which indeed makes it appear as though there are no plausible alternatives to those two philosophies. Where was all that information about Energy, Auras, Chakras, Multi-dimensional infinity and so forth when you went to school?
The one point about the education system which I truly do not agree with, and one of the main reasons for this blog entry is this: We are given a certain picture of life, and are effectively told that we either go along with it, or don't advance within that education system. If the goal of education is to produce an indepenent-thinking population, than that approach isn't exactly ideal.

The education system
What if we were in total control of our experience? What if we could have anything that we *really* wanted? Note how I talk of what we 'really want'. What we think our life's dream is can be completely different from what we actually want deep down. This brings us back to the original point of social conditioing once again.
We are told that certain professions are 'successful' or 'prestigious'. Who says so? What is that based on? A profession is just that- a profession. If there is prestige attached to it, then that comes from the way people perceive it, rather than from the profession itself. Why do we feel the need to look at things in such an either-or type way? It's either good or bad, right or wrong, this or that, with no shades of grey. Working in a certain job will be perfect for some people, while others wouldn't want to spend a week in it. Our conscious levels can only comprehend a tiny fraction of what there is to comprehend about any given situation, and thus it makes sense to always be open to greater possibilities. What appears like a quite tedious experience could turn out to be the greatest gift of your life, and the other way around. No career, amount of money, or level of education is inherently good or bad.
But that's not what we're told. We're told that in order to be 'good enough', loveable and likeable, we need to have the big house, fast car, good job and all of that. Oh really? What if we're all amazing spiritual beings worthy of love and respect, no matter what our present physical circumstances may say?
For as long as we don't find confidence from within, we will need external approval. And when we need external validation, then it most effectively comes in the form of going along with whatever is popular. Considering that the most widespread views make us feel small and insecure, it's easy to appreciate how this can just keep going on in a cycle. Only by awareness can we most effectively overcome this cycle. When you find confidence from within, then you don't external approval, and so you can admit to yourself what it is that you really want. I am very sure that if we allow ourselves to fully express it, we are all very loving indeed. Everything in our lives is a mirror of ourselves, and so if we allow ourselves to be who we really are, then the natural reflection is that we allow others to be who they are. When you think about, anything which is perceived to be an injustice within society is just some expression of free will not being respected. And as I see it, all that needs to be done is for us to respect our own free will, the natural outgrowth of which will be that we respect another's free will too.
This brings us back to Conscious Creation. One of the prerequisites of effective Conscious Creation is to have harmonized intentions. You need to want something on every level to most effectively attract it. It's easier to have this harmonized kind of intention if you allow yourself to express who you are. From that state of being what you can do to figure out what you want is quite simple: Look at what you don't want, turn it around, and then figure out the essence of it. So you may not want to have unsatisfying relationships, which when turned around would mean wanting to have satisfying relationships. What is meant with the 'essence' is the underlying wanting beneath the apparent one. Remember how I was talking of the distinction between what we want, and what we *really* want? That's it. So often we think that we want to achieve something, when it is really only symbolic of a deeper, underkying desire.
For example, people can want to be a good tennis player. Not because they love being good at tennis in and of itself, but because it may make them feel good about themselves, for example. So in this case, the essence of what they want would be to feel good about themselves, while the good tennis play is just a conduit for it.
In order to most effectively use the Law of Attraction you need to be who you actually are, and allow yourself to go what it is that you really want. I would certainly suggest that so long as you respect other people's free will, it's alright.
Be honest with yourself and acknowledge your true nature. Then, the vision of your ideal life will come to you rather easily.
